A college graduate and woefully underemployed, Kate barely navigates her 20’s with a vague sense of directionlessness. She enjoys making music and cracking wise about things. After college, she moved in with her best friend Penny, whose comparative success inspires but frustrates her. A typical dinner for Kate is a Valu-Sav Fried Bacon Mac n’ Cheez Sanguich™ and half a bag of Ore-No’s™ imitation chocolate cookishes. Coworker of Eddie and Paul, Daughter of Herman.
Penny is an impulsive, free-spirited woman with a double master’s in Quantum Electochemical Biopsychology and Neurologically Applied Hypercalculus Boson Synonyms. She is currently working on her doctorate in [REDACTED] at [REDACTED], while working as an intern at [SEROUSLY, SO INCREDIBLY REDACTED]. May have sequential art-related superpowers. Ex-Girlfriend of Chris, roommate of Kate.
Eddie is career-focused and goal-oriented at quite possibly the worst job to be either of those things. He is a high-school Senior and general nerd looking to go into computer programming as a major, if he doesn’t shoot up the corporate ladder at Bull’seye Stores™ first. Coworker of Kate and Paul.
An accountant with a cushy, do-nothing job and very few real responsibilities, Alasdair spends most of his free time drinking craft beer and hitting on women with varying degrees of satisfaction in both. Met Kate and Penny in high school, and has been friends with Dustin since childhood. Most often seen at the local dive bar.
Dustin ended up graduating with a History degree, somehow, and now enters medical data from one set of spreadsheets to a different set of spreadsheets to a computer database to a third set of spreadsheets. Generally quiet and stoic, he also has a tendency to be amused by other peoples’ misfortune. Coworker of Barry.
CHRISTINE “CHRIS” PRAJEET. 26.
“Professional” musician Chris is living the dream one friend’s couch at a time. Getting no support from her very religious parents after coming out as gay, she works odd jobs to pay the few bills she has, and practices alternative spirituality to guide her through her tough times. Her bohemian lifestyle, as depressing as I just made it sound, makes Kate jealous. Ex-Girlfriend of Penny, musical colleague of Barry.
Barry doesn’t *get* social interaction. He tends to annoy people with his disrespect for personal space, ignorance of cultural norms, and tendency to overshare and be blunt with his phrasing. In a semi-professional band with Chris, he has a day job doing Data Entry with Dustin.
Herman is Kate’s dad and a former Major League Baseball Player. Invented the G.O.A.T. acronym (Gee, whO’s A Terrificperson?). Stupidly rich. Also, regular stupid. Always tries to give Kate money or gifts despite Kate’s protests for independence. Nice guy, though.
PAUL “NICKNAMES ARE NOT PRACTICAL” MARVIN. 29.
Paul wants you to get back to work. Reading comics is not part of Best Practices. You can internet on your break. Coworker of Kate and Eddie.
